Typhoon Damrey

Vietnam

Typhoon Damrey struck the coast of Vietnam between Nov. 4-5 with winds of more than 135km/h, resulting in damage in communities in the South and Central coastal regions.

Ardent was under contract to refloat three vessels in and around a shipyard off of Ninh Phuoc after the typhoon.

A salvage team from Ardent Singapore immediately deployed, and commenced the refloating operations. Ardent Korea also deployed representatives to assist with commercial operations.

The first two vessels were quickly refloated with local tugs and a combination of debalasting and trimming the vessels.

The third vessel was a more challenging situation, and Ardent mobilized additional resources from Singapore, and the Netherlands.

It took three weeks for the salvage team to prepare for the operation. The team removed soil around the vessel with local dredgers, and successfully refloated the last vessel.
